Cosmology is the study of the structure, beginning and end of the universe, and it has been transformed from mostly metaphysical speculation to a precision observational science. We read the microwave background of the sky, a relic of the primordial big bang, and we “listen” for minute gravity waves when distant black holes collide. Where do we go from here?
